Ferring Community Cinema's next film is "September 5".
A gripping newsroom drama starring Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro, Ben Chaplin, and Leonie Benesch. During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an ABC sports broadcasting team must adapt to live coverage of the Israeli athletes being held hostage by the Black September terrorist group.
The ABC team were at first triumphant. They managed to get the cameras and commentators into position to watch and transmit live coverage of the police attempts to storm the apartments where the hostages were being held, then the realisation the terrorists would also be able to follow what was happening outside and the impact their coverage was having on the hostage crisis dawned on them.
Capturing the compromises, dedication and human fallibility of the newsroom, September 5 is a worthy chronicle of a tragic flashpoint in broadcast media history.
Tickets are £6 and available at the North Ferring Co-Op, the Premier Stores in South Ferring, and on the door on the night. Ticket price includes tea, coffee or a soft drink, and biscuits. Doors open at 6.30pm for a prompt 7pm start.
