Nigel & Wendy Gossop give a light-hearted illustrated talk about two very British institutions that became “The Boy’s Own Paper” and “The Girl’s Own Paper”. First published in 1879/1880, these became essential reading for generations of young people until the 1960s. BOP promoted manliness and chivalry, while GOP offered honest sound advice. Both papers published stories by established writers, including Jules Verne and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Entry free for paid up members of Rustington Heritage Association. Visitors £5 (cash only) payable at the door. All admissions subject to availability of seats on arrival. Why not become an RHA member? Just £15 per person per annum for free entry to all our talks in 2026.
