“The Angel in the House” is a Victorian poem which refers to the 19th-century view that women’s main role entailed caring for the house and children, while men went out to work and undertook civic duties. In her talk, Julia Edge (curator at Littlehampton Museum) will start by exploring Victorian women's lives in general and then go on to look at individual stories of women from Littlehampton.
