MNDA West Sussex South Branch - Family Fun Day

Judith Allen, Worthing
Join us for our 5th Family Fun Day on Sunday 5th July — a brilliant day out for all ages!
Get ready for a packed day of excitement. Children can bounce, jump and play to their hearts’ content with the bouncy castle, bungee trampoline, face painting, games and plenty more.
Grown‑ups are in for a treat too, with delicious food vans, refreshments, live music, artisan stalls, classic cars, American trucks, chopper bikes, and a whole range of attractions to explore.
We’ll also be hosting a children’s competition with fantastic family prizes — a lovely highlight of the day.
Most importantly, every moment of fun helps make a real difference.
As a volunteer‑run charity, we rely on events like this to support people in our community living with motor neurone disease. It costs over £40,000 each year to run our branch, and your generosity helps us provide vital equipment not readily available through the NHS. We also fund taxi transport for hospital visits, respite breaks, days out, and therapeutic activities such as massage and art sessions — anything that brings comfort, dignity and a better quality of life to those affected by MND.
Your support truly matters.
Thank you for helping us continue this essential work — and we can’t wait to share a wonderful day with you.

Charms, Cures and Potions: Keeping Well in Old Sussex – a talk by Chris Hare

East Preston & Kingston Preservation Society, East Preston, Littlehampton
In an era when most people could not afford to go the doctor, and when the skills of doctors and the potency of their medicines were very limited, most people relied on folk cures and remedies. There were not only physical illnesses to contend with; many people believed in the malign presence of witchcraft and there were rituals and charms for dealing with this threat too. Some of these “old wives tales” probably did some good, others none at all, and some probably did more harm than good. Chris Hare, Worthing historian and author, explores this fascinating topic in his illustrated talk. Entry is free for EPKPS members. Visitors £3, payable on entry (cash only).  All admissions subject to availability of seats on arrival.
